The basic flight profile of the satellite fighter would involve the launch atop a Cyclone-2 launch vehicle, commencing the active phase of the operation, which would have followed the pre-launch phase. The spacecraft would then be placed into Earth orbit during the staging phase. This would be followed by an acceleration phase in order that the satellite fighter could reach the open orbit required to attempt an interception of the target spacecraft. During this phase any required trajectory corrections would have been implemented as it was conducted concurrently with the so called ‘finding-search-field’ phase as the satellite fighter attempted to acquire the target to facilitate a rendezvous. Once the rendezvous had been attained the interception was conducted at the closest practical approach. A successful interception would result in a target being destroyed or damaged to the point it was hors de-combat (no longer mission effective).
